President Donald Trump is calling on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to "look into" Rev. Al Sharpton and his MSNBC show.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday (October 5), Trump accused Sharpton of being a political opportunist and suggested that his weekend show, PoliticsNation, should be investigated by the FCC.

“I knew Al Sharpton for many years, not that it matters, but he was a major ‘TRUMP’ fan,” Trump wrote. “He’d ask me to go to his fake Rallies all the time, because I brought BIG Crowds, and he couldn’t get anybody to come without me.”

“Then he did the Tawana Brawley Hoax, one of the worst Low Level Scams in History, and that set him back, BIG TIME!” Trump continued, referencing the 1987 case in which Tawana Brawley falsely claimed she was abducted and raped. Sharpton supported Brawley’s story at the time and has since said he believed her legal team and that she deserved to be heard.

Trump also took aim at Sharpton’s employer, NBC, and PoliticsNation's ratings.

“Then he got to know Brian Roberts, Chairman of Fake News NBC, who gave him what would become one of the Lowest Rated Shows in Television History,” the president wrote. “Roberts is afraid to take him off because it wouldn’t be ‘Politically Correct.’”

“This is just one of the many reasons that the Federal Communications Commission should look into the license of NBC, which shows almost exclusively positive Democrat content,” he added. “Likewise, ABC Fake News — About the same thing, 97% negative to Republicans!”

Trump also posted an old photo of Sharpton from before he lost significant weight, seemingly to mock his appearance.

Sharpton, who is the founder of the National Action Network, has been a vocal critic of Trump’s policies, especially those aimed at ending diversity and inclusion initiatives. He has called these efforts a “prelude” to authoritarian actions and warned they are tied to Trump’s threats to “take over American cities led by Black mayors.”

Trump's comments about Sharpton mark his latest attack on outlets and media figures who are critical of him. FCC chair Brendan Carr recently pressured Disney and ABC affiliates to cancel Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show following his comments surrounding conservative activist Charlie Kirk's killing. The show was briefly pulled but later reinstated following public backlash.
