President Donald Trump has once again teased seeking a third presidential term, telling reporters that he "would love to do it."

“I haven’t really thought about it. We have some very good people, as you know … but I have the best poll numbers that I’ve ever had,” Trump said Monday (October 27) during a flight to Japan.

The president went on to praise Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, saying the pair could make a formidable future ticket.

“We have one of them standing right here,” Trump said, gesturing toward Rubio, who joined him for the media briefing. “We have JD obviously, the vice president, who’s great. Marco’s great. I’m not sure if anyone would run against those two. I think if they ever formed a group it would be unstoppable.”

When pressed on whether he was ruling out another run himself, Trump replied, “You’ll have to tell me.”

“All I can tell you is that we have a great group of people, which they don’t,” he added, appearing to refer to Democrats.

Trump has repeatedly teased the idea of running for a third term despite the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms. The amendment would need to be repealed for Trump to legally run again. That process would require approval by two-thirds of Congress or a constitutional convention called by two-thirds of state legislatures, followed by ratification from three-quarters of the states.

In past interviews, Trump has alternated between dismissing and entertaining a third term. In August, Trump told CNBC he would “probably not” run, but in a March interview with NBC News, the president insisted he was “not joking” about the possibility.
